Coming to an end...

I really enjoy blogging... when I make the time for it. However, I believe in time of seasons and feel like this is not my season to be blogging (as evidenced by the lack of it for the last 6 months). Please enjoy these last entries of our summer activities and life in Arizona (there are a couple of pages of entries). Then we'll see if in time, a new season of blogging will find its way into my life!!
XOXO,

Dinner Time Conversation

I'm always amazed at the information I learn when I attentively listen to our dinner conversations. Last night, with a mouth full of spaghetti, Lauren tells about her adventure in Art class. Evidently a boy in her class told her that she was "hot". She looked at us and waited for the expressions on our faces. I tried to keep a straight face and ask her sincerely what that meant. She told me that it means she is "fancy"; "beautiful and fancy"! By now Larry and I are hiding our faces to disguise the smiles. I quickly get my motherly face back on and ask her what she means by "fancy". Chelsea answers me and replies that the kid obviously has a crush on her and with a big smile Lauren nods in agreement. So is "fancy" the new compliment?

Sydney's First Haircut

We said good-bye to Sydney's baby mullet and took her to Great Clips for her very first haircut. I was relieved to see that her wavy curls remained!

Chelsea's Baptism

Chelsea's Baptism Day was Beautiful!

Larry baptized and confirmed her

Grandpa and Grandpa Keister drove from Boise. Grandpa Keister gave a talk.

Uncle Blake came and played the piano

Chelsea chose to eat at Flancer's afterwards

Sydney loves to go down the slide in the canoe. It reminds me of the log ride at Disneyland.

Black Widows and Baby lizards

This is one I sprayed to its doom

Now that we have a legitimate garage, we rarely use our front door. Today I came back from getting the mail and used the front door. I noticed a beautiful spider slowly moving up the door. The design on it's back was magnificent, so I didn't think twice about it being a black widow until I opened the door and doomed it to its death in my entry. Once on its back, I couldn't help but notice the red hour glass. Google image searches led me to conclude it was a northern Black Widow. This picture is of a Black Widow just out my back door. As strange as it may sound, I marvel at the beauty of this creature and kill them only for my safety. They move slowly and gracefully. Now the fast moving spiders, oh, that's a whole other story for my fear factor.

With our "ample" supply of arachnids, our yard is also full of cute and entertaining lizards. This particular morning we were eating breakfast together and Chelsea noticed a baby lizard stuck between the glass window and the screen. The cutest part was to hear Sydney say "baby lizard". I'm happy to see the lizards as I remind myself that means less of the eight-legged creatures.

Worn Out!

A friend invited the girls and me for an afternoon swim at her house. We enjoyed the hour swim and then walked home for some dinner. Sweet Sydney couldn't make it more than a couple of minutes in to dinner before her head plopped right down in the middle of her plate and food!

Lauren's Birthday

Lauren picked a pink cake and pink frosting and insisted that she decorate
it with the whole container of sprinkles!

Happy Birthday to my girl who invented the word "exciting"! Lauren woke up extra early and said, "I feel different today... I feel six". Needless to say, this is the girl who comes home from school asking to bring a pen back. When I ask her "why", she innocently answers that she told her classmates that she "is the real Hannah Montana" and will be signing autographs! Lauren may only be six, but she is aging me very quickly!

Every little girl needs a pair of sparkly red shoes!
